Cultural Center
It was built as the building of Halkevi (People's House) by the governorship of Mersin between the years of February 1944-November 1946.
The feature of the building is to be the biggest Halkevi.
It was designed as a multi-purpose building, and technology of rotating scene was used.
Mersin Halkevi (Cultural Center) Building took place in 50 outstanding civil engineering works of the Republican period by being selected within context of the "50th Year 50 Work" project which was carried out by the TMMOB Chamber of Civil Engineers.
Halkevi, aka Cultural Center, continues to host to performance of Mersin State Opera and Ballet today, concerts with a variety of theatrical performance. Mersin is the city which has the first State Opera and Ballet after three big cities in Turkey.
